Ocean waves form due to energy transferred to water by wind and gravity. As waves enter shallow water, they slow down and grow taller. If the wave’s base can no longer support its top, the wave collapses or breaks. River waves may form due to streaming and obstacles to free water movement. Such obstacles may be rocks or trunks lying on the ground of a river. No matter how a wave emerged, no matter whether it is running or breaking – I can look to this phenomenon for hours, and „freezing“ the moment catches the incredible forms build up under pressure of wind, current and ground.
